Kala Utsav 2010 Performance

Laxminarayan V. Bhat is a devoted young vocalist in the field of Hindustani Music. He is born in the year 1985 in the village Gurtegadde of Yellapur Taluk, North Kenara District. He completed his primary and High School education in his native place. Having Keen interest in music from his childhood, Mr. Bhat started his Music education in his village under Sujata Hegde, a student of reputed Hindusthani vocalist Pandit Ganapati Bhat Hasanagi. Then, he continued his music study under the care of Vani Hardikar for two years.

Soon after, Mr.Bhat came to Dharwad with full of enthusiasm to continue his study. He joined for B.Music Degree at Karnataka University’s Music college. Since then he has been learning Hindustani music under the guidance of Dr. Shantaram Hegde Dharwad, a disciple of Pandit Basavaraj Rajguru.

Being an ingerious vocalist Mr. Bhat is an expert of kirana and gwaliyar style alaap and he is specialized in notations. Besides, Mr.Bhat sings light music, kannada songs, Bhagavad Geeta and Sanskrit stotras. Mr. Bhat is blessed with base melody voice and his presentation is heart touching and most appealing and the impression is everlasting.

ACHIEVEMENTS:
• First Prize in Hindustani Vocal Competition Organized by Sana Associates Dharwad, 2007.
• Participated and got Prize in ‘Youth Festival’ at Dharwad, 2007.
• Participated and honoured with First Prize in Yuva Pratibhotsava organized by Kannada and Sanskrati Ilakhe, Dharwad 2007
• Honoured with Second Prize in State level classical vocal competition organized by Basaveshwara college, Bagalkot.
